The UK premiere hits London on the 26th of August and the North Yorkshire Premiere hits Northallerton just a few short days later at 7pm on Tuesday the 31st of August at Upstairz, the New County Arms, Northallerton - and in all honesty, we're only waiting that long because we don't want to clash with that little dealie they have running over in Leeds that weekend, haha!
It wouldn't be a Popcorn Premiere without a party and of course we're going to have Upstairz resident DJ Damski in the house along with a selection of other local talent and live music to be confirmed.
It all kicks off at 7pm on Tuesday the 31st of August and not only is it completely FREE you'll also be able to be amongst the first to pick up a copy of the Emerica Stay Gold DVD at an amazing one night only price! This just in from Malton-based mini-ramp enthusiast and host/MC Ryan Swain is an edit of the Popcorn boys in attendance at the Malton Skate Jam this past Wednesday, including some tricks from Ryan at his local - check it out...
I know, I know, we've been really slack with our blog updates. For the record, if you're ever wondering what's going on and are bored of waiting for us to get this up to speed, feel free to come check us out on Facebook at the Popcorn Skate business page - we're always updating it and there's loads happening, and it's linked into our Twitter! But yes, we have been slack, but there is, in fact, a great reason/excuse! We've all been working our tails off finishing up the Popcorn Video and I'm delighted to tell you all that you can grab it now from the DVD section of the website!
The video features the entire Popcorn team and a host of friends of the shop and runs just under 40 minutes. It features a whole host of Northern parks and spots that I'll let Blythe pop on and list for you at some point, but they include Northallerton park (obviously!), Prissick Plaza, Hairy Bobs and the awesome R-Kade and The Works Skate Parks (both of which you need to go and support now - there are so few really good indoor parks in the country we wouldn't want to risk losing either, would we?!).
The video also features a whole host of local bands of a diverse range of genres. This is something I personally have taken great pleasure in being able to push and support as it's been a real revelation to myself and the team to discover the strength of the local music scene. At the Video Premiere last night at the New County Arms in Northallerton last night two of those bands, Rosie and Project 142, played live for us and played tremendous sets! These guys all deserve your support, and we'll be working with the bands to see if we can't make their music more available to you all in some way. For anyone that's actually snagged the video and was wondering, here's the full track list and which segment the track appears:
'Magnetic' by Lee James Maughan (intro)
'Red Eye' by All Sexy But Ginger (intro)
'The Scene is Dead (Long Live the Scene)' by Exit by Name (Stevie Donaldson)
'Down Low' by Mr Nasty (Lewis 'Chewy' Topham)
'The Same Delay' by Eskimo Sandwich (Dale Starkie)
'Neon' by Soma (Cainan McEwan)
'Twisted Calculator' by Rosie (Tom Zelenka)
'You Couldn't Pay Me To Stay' by the Decades (Ben 'Moley' Livesey and Andrew 'Froggy' Bridge)
'This Is How We Roll' by Misled Icons (Stephen Blythe)
'Poison Alan' by Rosie (Tom 'Spike' Curtis)
'Roots' by Project 142 (Richie Mann)
'Little Old Blue' by Rosie (Friends of Popcorn)
'We're Not Listening' by Misled Icons (Binks)
If anyone is after any more info on the bands and such feel free to let us know, and yeah, the link for the DVD is here :-)

Oh yes, you read it right! We've been excited about this ever since we saw the range but they're now finally due to arrive next month so it's time to spill the beans! Two of the biggest names in skateboarding have come together this coming season for a collab across a range of shoes and apparel that are quite frankly, stunning. We'll keep you waiting for the apparel hookup but for now check out the shoes on the image below. We're gonna have em all and if you're wanting to secure your pair give us a shout and we'll see what we can do! In the meanwhile producing a killer collab range isn't all the boys have been up to - to quote...
I was going to wait to send this around until the end of my day…but damn it’s just too sick, two of skateboarding classics getting together and making good things happen. Click the flyer to go direct to the sub-site and watch the footage of two DIY spots getting built and wrecked by some of the best out there.
Here is a back-story to the spot below, it is just 2 blocks from the new DLX headquarters.
Although before we moved to our new building the spot was featured years ago in the REAL Life and Times video…the team built a small kicker at the top of a long gap and weeks later they drove over with a van full of riders to film for the video. Unfortunately that day it rained the session out, yet Peter Ramondetta decided this was not enough to stop him from skating. BIG ass ollie landing bolts in the rain, look for it.
So a few months back some known associates jumped the fence, swept up and built a nice double sided ledge…this sparked daily sessions, so you can imagine when the VANS project rolled out the red carpet on that bank/box/ledge/ combo the place became a virtual skatepark.
Unfortunately the city came in no sooner than a month after and took it all out…leaving us with another empty industrial wasteland…which for us is like a blank canvas.
The AIR is the second skate in the PURE series. Alchemy have continued with the minimal feel, featuring stylish and subtle details. The AIR features Alchemy's exclusive sole plate that has been designed, developed and tested by their riders. The Alchemy AIR has been designed to perform and features precise backslide grooves that wear to the riders individual style.
The soles are made from lightweight PA material that will give you the perfect combination of control and speed when grinding. The outer and inner sole plates come with plenty of space to lock on to sole based grinds.
The backslide groove is centrally aligned with the h-block to assist when balancing grinds.
BOOT: Two piece Pure PU Hard boot with spring buckle and lace lock system. Stylish stitched detail on the ultra comfort liner with oversized shock absorbing heel pad.
Have we got a special offer for you lovely people!

Simply buy ANY three t-shirts - that includes guys, girls and kids t-shirts - and you'll get the cheapest one free. Oh, and sale lines ARE INCLUDED! We're running this offer until the end of May stock allowing, so come down and grab a bargain!
If you're a bit too far away to actually pop in, fear not - the offer will hit the website soon, and if you'd like to take advantage in the meanwhile simply place your order, leave us a message in the special instructions section and we'll adjust your order total before we charge you. Bonus!
So with the current political chaos, we've decided to join the trend and declare a HUNG PARLIAMENT in the Vote Popcorn competition! What am I on about? Well, the deadline for entries was yesterday and we've had LOADS of you enter, but in truth, a canny number but relatively not all that many of you actually getting back to us with pictures of your stickery escapades!
So yes, we're extending the deadline. You've now got until NEXT SUNDAY, the 16th May, to get your entries to us - you can email myself, Blythe, or competition@popcornskate.co.uk. That also means if you missed the entry deadline and want to sneak in late you can do, but make sure you get your entry to us ASAP as we'll have to get the stickers to you on time to get your entry in by THIS SUNDAY!
So once again, it's competition@popcornskate.co.uk and all we need is an email entitled VOTE POPCORN! and your name and address in the body of the email. You'll receive a completely free set of Popcorn stickers - we'll even pick up the tab for the postage! - and all you have to do is try and come up with the most creative use for those stickers possible and send us a picture of what you come up with! We've had stickers on guitars, stickers on ID badges, stickers cut up in various creative ways - just go nuts! The winner will receive a FREE Popcorn deck in the size and style of their choosing (subject to availability) and we may even have some runners up prizes if we like the entries enough :-)!
Oh yes! Etnies is BACK at Popcorn with a bang with the awesome new Etnies Recognition summer range of shoes. For the uninitiated, the Recognition range is the core shops only good stuff - you're not gonna see these going dirty cheap in your high street retailers, these are limited, they're REAL skate shoes and they're right here.
So, what have we got? Well, first up we're immensely proud to have the brand new Tale of Two Cities range. Both Willow and Joe Gavin are immensely proud of their cities of origin, and they're not scared to show it - hence some sick new kicks from Etnies. Check em out...
This is the Willow Faction. The Willow Faction is based on Willow's hometown, Berlin. The city adopted the Bear for its coat of arms, as seen on both the tongue and heel of the shoe. The split colour bear is a nod to the historical split of the city by the famous Berlin wall.
Joe Gavin is proud to be from Manchester and following in the footsteps of many famous personalities and music names. As seen on the Joe Gavin RVM, the Bee is an iconic symbol for “UK’s capital of the north” and features on the city’s coat of arms as well as on the Boddington Beer cans (product of Manchester!). The colour blue in Joe’s shoe is a reference to Manchester City Football Club.
And finally, Sean Malto had to get in on the act with his brand new debut pro shoe. Check it...
Features vulcanized construction for better grip and board feel as well as support and durability. PU insole for added comfort and protection and e-Suede, for better flick and longevity.
He is now back in Sewden out of jail, and taking it easy with his family and trying to get back into skating, for more details http://flipskateboards.com/news.php?id=199
Etines has launched a mini website to go with its new 'tale of two cities' shoes which are due to drop anytime, the website features Profiles of the skaters, video parts and photos
Brand new this week are the Adio Kenny Standard. These are a lower profile slimmer show than the Mids we've had the last few seasons and look a sure fire winner! Check em out...
his really is a slimmed down shoe from Kenny that should go down a storm with the current trend towards slimmer shoes as it's not only the right shape but it also has the vaunted Adio construction standards that mean it should outlast many similarly shaped shoes at a great price. It's also all black so it's a winner for those sneaky 'it's a shoe honest teacher/boss/The Man' moments! Also at the £50 price this really is a nicely built shoe for the money - check it out!
Okay folks, it's competition time! Read on for a guaranteed one off chance to grab some FREE STICKERS and the chance to win some more swag!
As I'm sure most of you know, it's General Election time. And yknow, if you're old enough, you should certainly use your vote, it's really important, yadaya, but it's face it... it kinda kills tele for a few weeks, doesn't it? Three grown men ranting at each other like children? I'll take a pass! That said, we've decided to give you all a slightly alternative election campaign to follow while you're not out skating - VOTE POPCORN!
These are the rules of the game. Send us your name and address in an email entitled "Vote Popcorn!" at competition@popcornskate.co.uk and we'll send to you, completely free, a small pack of Popcorn stickers. If you're local to us, drop by instead by all means - everyone will get the same number of stickers, and that's all you can use for the purposes of the game. Then you just gotta go out and campaign! Use your stickers in a creative way that someone will see and send us a picture. You could stick em on your deck, you could decorate clothing with em - let your imagination go nuts! Our favourite three will all win Popcorn T-shirts and our favourite will win one of the brand NEEEW Popcorn team decks in the size of your choice.
Finally, bit of a disclaimer: Popcorn don't condone anything that would be considered an act of vandalism and will assume you've had permission to do what you do - so, basically, it's up to you! So there we go, bit of fun and some free stickers to boot- what you waiting for?! Deadline for all entries is Sunday 9th May so get your email sent and your stickers across asap!
Check it out - team riders Cainan McEwan and Dale Starkie tearing it up at the Works skate park, Leeds, with thanks again to Tom Blackburn for the ace filming and editing job...
Introducing the latest member of the Popcorn crew - Cainan McEwan doubles the size of our Leeds posse! Here's a quick hello, with big thanks to Tom Blackburn for handling filming and editing duties...
Last Week we held our Annual Easter Skate Comp at Northallerton Skatepark. The day went really well and we would like to thank everyone for coming down and trying so hard the atmosphere of the day was nice!
We started the day off with a Highest Ollie Comp, everyone came together and tried to Ollie the boards it came down to Tom Zelenka who Ollied 5 decks in the end and won the comp. The next comp was the BMX Bunny Hop Comp which saw David Gudger taking the title for highest followed by George who put in a good effort!
Then we moved into our Skate Comp, which started with the under 9 & 12's been grouped together to make the show more gnarly, winners of this Comp were Charlie Picard for under 9's, and Sky for Under 12's.
Next comp to get under way was the 13 to 16's. this comp was crazy with a massive show of tricks from everyone! The winners of the comp were George Redhead who took first and pulled some crazy flip disasters, Dale Starkie took Second with some nice smooth tricks, and Thomas Collumbine taking third.
Next Comp was 19 and over, this some people pulling some mad tricks. Richie Mann took first with some gnarly airs off the side of the flatbank, followed by Stevie D who took second, and Moley taking third.
The winner of the NASS tickets was Stevie Donaldson with a Kickflip Indy off the side of the Flatbank.
Popcorn would like to thank everyone who came down, and to everyone who helped organize the event, and Richie Mann for getting on the decks!
We've still got another proper blog coming on this fantastic event from last weekend but in the meanwhile, check out this selection of pics from the day - with thanks to hugely talented local photographer Charlotte Heaney - cheers Charlotte!
Don't worry, Blythe isn't stuck in some far flung foreign land - at least last time we checked - but unfortunately our new shop decks, or rather the graphics for such, are!! So yes, they'll be delayed a little while the whole, volcanic ash-lets-hope-it-isn't-Armageddon situation resolves itself, but in the meanwhile, check em out!

Krooked Skateboards is one of the many offshhots of Deluxe Distribution. Started by the famous Street Skater Mark Gonzales who heads the company with his own unique style and art. The other skater on the team are Dan Drehobl, and Bobby Worrest. With the new arrival of the Shmoo series of decks we thought we would have a recap of what Krooked is for anyone new to skating. Krooked skateboards also do Guest Series Boards from skaters who skate for other companies. The boards have an original Mark Treatment on the graphics and end up producing some of the most unique boards! The brand lost one its team members RIP but then kept going and we love to stock these products because they are so colourful and different!
You read it right! Xsjado skates have finally hit Popcorn with a bang with this brand shiny new limited edition Jeff Stockwell complete. These are THE skate of the moment. They're not cheap, they're certainly an aspirational skate but they're absolutely where it's at and we're proud to have em. Check it:
With Ground Control Featherlight II frames and Heat wheels this is, at least, a setup that you can skate out of the box exactly as Jeff Stockwell would set em up and they're well, well worth saving the moolah up to buy. The range is only going to get bigger if y'all support the inline skate movement here at Popcorn so jump on board!!
Good news folks! With the Northallerton Skate Competition but days away, we've just received word from our man at iPath Tez that he's rocking along this Saturday with team riders Eddie Belvedere and Rob Smith in tow!
It shows you the commitment iPath have got to helping local skate scenes that the guys are travelling over to appear in person and you have to respect that - especially with iPath as a brand absolutely killing it, with the Stash Vulc and Alvaro pro shoes both doing very nicely for us here at Popcorn - both shoes you should certainly check out! The new season shoes have all the usual iPath ethics and style combined with Timberland quality production that really has put them on another level - and with price points that you really can't go wrong at! So yes, check em out and don't forget, 17th April - THIS SATURDAY - Northallerton Skate Park is the place to be :-)
Check this out - Eden Advocate Pepa Prieto (from beautiful Spain) recently sat down for a little Q&A on her time at the Artists Residency Fountainhead in Miami… grab a cup and get in on the convo...
Interview(IV): What exactly is an artist’s residency?
Pepa: hello all! Well an artist residency is a great place to meet other artist from all parts of the world as well as to get to know the art scene of the city where the residency is located. As well, it’s interesting as it gives you the opportunity to go out of your studio and break the circle of solitude that the artist tends to create… The residency I am now is called The Fountainhead Residency and is ran by a family of collectors based in Miami…its fantastic! …I was introduced by Iguapop Gallery after my last show…I am really glad.
IV: Sounds like a blast! Typically, how long is the stay and what is the purpose?
Pepa: Most of the artists stay here from one to two months…. not more. I think is the right timing…not more, not less…
The purpose it to create a project of your work during the residency, to get in contact with the art scene, meet people and discover the city… in my case Miami.
IV: What an amazing opportunity to get in on! What has been the most memorable moment of the stay so far?
Pepa: Many things… but if I had to choose one, meeting other artist from around the world and to be able to spend a long time together…this has no prize…I am really thankful…
IV: Wonderful to hear Pepa, quite the blessing to combine the inspirations and ideas of so many artists’ backgrounds. What is the biggest challenge in creating art to such a large scale?
Pepa: Ufff… it’s not easy, it’s not just what the public sees, there is a lot of things behind the scenes. First, it’s outdoors so the weather hits you. Here in Miami it has been the sun, it was Miami’s alligator for me… hahahaha…. very strong sun, crazy! Second, it’s a great effort from a physical perspective, so you have to be fit. As I have done it all by myself, moving the scaffolding has been one of my biggest issues. Lastly, a wall is not a canvas so sometimes it’s in bad condition….
BUT, I love putting my work on all kinds of surfaces and scales as it makes it more interesting, complicated and refreshing for me…I just don’t like easy things…
So I am very happy!!
IV: Haha, wow, I can’t imagine! What a feat! So have you run into any other challenges?
Pepa: Ohh many…that is the beauty of working in public spaces like the street…things can get pretty hard, but at the end that’s the beauty of it.
Also it’s a big challenge to paint a wall of these dimensions alone… hahahha
IV: Haha, seriously!! Thanks so much Pepa for spending time with us, lovely to get in on the travels of your wondrous art!

Oh yes! We've just received our second hit of Fallen for the season and they've deffo been worth the wait! First of all is the Fallen x the Misfits collab colourway of the classic Trooper SL Skate Shoe...
These are a personal favourite of yours truely as Fallen and team rider Chris Cole have really got this one right in recent times. It's slimmed down and sleek with a lightweight EVA midsole, gel heel insert in insole and midsole for shock absorption and impact cushioning and highly abrasion-resistant rubber outsole for enhanced wear and durability. The colourway is pure Misfits for all you fans out there but if you're not big on collab shoes don't worry - it's not got logos all over it so it's a little more subtle than some and is a lovely colourway whichever way you cut it. Next up - the kids shoes! One of more most popular youth ranges in recent years, Fallen really do get kids shoes right with uncompromising quality and some really cool colours. First up, our first ever Trooper SL Kids Skate Shoe...
The newest Chris Cole pro model is a new-and-improved classic. The Trooper has shed some poundage and kicked all the extra bulk for everything you need, and nothing you don't. Features of the Trooper SL Shoe include Genuine action leather, nubuck, and/or heavy-duty suede upper, asymmetric stabilizer for medial upper support, Slim profile with lightly padded tongue and collar, Soft EVA insole with full-length latex layer and gel heel insert, Lightweight EVA midsole with gel for additional comfort and impact cushioning, and a highly abrasion-resistant outsole for grip and durability. A little more expensive than you'd maybe expect on average for a youth model, it's worth bearing in mind that these are a scaled down version of a £65 price point adult model and well worth the cash at just £45 for the young uns - or you lucky lucky people with small feet! Next up is a staple of our kids range for Fallen, the Chief Thomas Kids Skate Shoe...
Designed and endorsed by Jamie Thomas. With a lower profile and classic old school skate shoe sole design, the Chief by Fallen has been hailed by many a chief as being worthy of any skater looking for a stylish shoe. The Chief's sticky gum rubber sole provides its user with greater ground contact and connectivity. Features of the Chief include: Foam-padded tongue and collar for comfort and support, Internal tongue straps for added foot stability, Vulcanized sole construction, Highly abrasion-resistant multi-tone bottom, Sticky gum rubber sole provides excellent ground contact, wear and flex. These are always mega popular and a great buy at £40. They're flying so get yours before they're gone - the colourway also ties in nicely with our adult Slash Pro Shoe, Brian Hansen's debut Deathwish collab for Fallen...
Volcom is a company based on the youth against the Establishment. The company was founded in 1991 when Richard Woolcott and Tucker Hall set off on a snowboard trip that would forever change their lives. Both wanted to start something based around the three sports that they enjoyed and came up with the name and then the stone!
The company went from strength to strength to become one of the most popular brands in the action sport industry. Moving into different avenues, the Volcom Record label supports bands like Riverboat Gamblers, Pennywise and many more. This brand is not about being the best, it's all about the culture that goes with action sports.
Mission Statement
Facets of an empire are vast. An empire is created somehow ingeniously, without paved roads unique to their own trails. Pioneers to be forefathers. Clear thinking in a cloud of stagnant gret confusion. Connections to vectors, venting pressures of a pocket stuck in time. it is our opportunity to share our quest with your in honor of an era unestablished to the present society. Futuristic perhaps, but it does have people coming back for more. So let's log now and reap later, for the furthest forest is glowing a printless picture.
Winning major Events last year the UK Street Comp, to the Van's 1966 Video which features this guy on it.The Element Europe video is due out for June! more info on that soon!

We have some amazing womens products that were co-designed by this beautiful artist, here is a little blog for ya about her
Fine artist Lisa Solberg is the epitome of a free spirit. She lives her life very much from moment to moment, appreciating all life has to offer. She works mostly on large-scale paintings and murals but incorporates drawing or painting into her life on a daily basis, changing her style as she sees fit. Hailing from Chicago and the middle child of five, she now resides in the “emerging” part of downtown Los Angeles. Optimistic, expressionistic, and always a positive life force, we couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome Lisa to the Element Eden Advocate family.
Why did you decide to sign on as an Element Eden Advocate, and what are some of the benefits that could or will come out of that relationship?
I want to become a beacon for Element — like a light or a fire. And I look forward to building a relationship that benefits everyone! I hope that I can pioneer into some new directions for Element, and I really want to work with Element Asia and Element Europe. I hope to just be exposed to new opportunities that I’d have otherwise not encounter.
Is there anything else you want to tell aspiring artists and girls out there?
I guess I’d say that you should always stick with it — stay true to yourself and your dreams. Never give up, and never surrender to an easier path. March to your own drummer, even if there’s no one else with you. Anything is possible!
Oh yes, we've been eagerly awaiting it and it's finally arrived - the new Spring Lakai clothing range! We've got a nice tight little range this time which you can check out here! Some highlights are:

This one's a staple in our range and always proves popular. Feel free to click through for all the techy details but from a common sense perspective these are a lovely shoe - not so chunky as to put off you guys that like em slim but also nice and solid with a sticky gum rubber herring bone sole provides grip and flex. The colour way is classic fallen with black bordered with a classy purple Fallen logo and detail. Sure to fly off the shelves! Next up is the Thomas Forte Mid Skate Shoe:

Just popping by to say that in an effort to get on board properly with the whole Twitter craze we've just linked our blog to Twitter, so when we post an update there'll be an automatic tweet to let you all know! Yey!
Ipath is a footwear company that was established in 1999, in the San Francisco and the Northern California Hippie Commune Scene. The company is a mixture of loads of different cultures mixing into one nice blend of Street and Hippie roots movements. The 'manifesto' for the company is to bring back the unique qualities of the individual and contribute to the concept of Ipath. The shoes are good mixture between style and Board control with the added Eco sustainable materials, there products are produced to a high quality with passion and creativity.
The company uses materials that Eco-sustainable and don't have a major impact on the planet, Ipath have been know to produce some of their shoes with 'Hemp'. the reason for the use of 'Hemp' is the time it takes to grow compared to other materials allowing it to be produced faster. The other benefit is that hemp is a durable materil for skate shoes. The company has a trade mark in the 'Stash Pocket' Some of the shoes are produced with a stash pocket to allow you to store items, without anyone else knowing :-)
The Ipath Shoes that we have at the moment are some of the best in the product line for board control and feel, and they also have a nice price as well when compared to rival brands. The first shoe we chose was the Adam Alfaro's Shoe
A simple, afforable shoe. The next shoe we have is the Stash Vulc:
The Stash Vulc is a classic based skate shoe that is perfect for the skater who might want to try something different to a manchester or chukka,
Adam Alfaro on the IPATH Stash Pocket:
"How great is that? I can keep my stash away from the Fuzz in IPATH's handy dandy Stash pocket."
The short answer is: lots of things! But let's be a little less facecious and give you all a bit more detail!
SPRING IS HERE!
OH yes. We've had the mother of all runs of deliveries in the last few weeks and literally have more or less a shop's worth of new stock. It'd be folly for me to try and cover everything in one blog so watch out for a Spring Highlights blog tomorrow with some picks from the season, and from there we'll have some features highlighting individual brands! The REALLY abbreviated version is:
-Volcom is back! Volcom has always been a massive hit amongst the Popcorn crew but had suffered from being perceived as a tad expensive in the past. No more! The prices this season are competitive with anyone thanks to an ace new distribution team and in particular we have, as a brief example, a £45 jean called the Black Zip Jean that's absolutely killing it. Look out for more info soon!
-Kr3w has arrived! Known particularly for their denim, we've got some stunning Kr3w apparel for our first season with the brand! In particular you really need to check out the Lizard King signature denim and the Special K Slims - the latter of which are an unbelievable bargain at just £40!
-Ipath have hit! Returning with a new look and hugely improved production standards iPath are hotly tipped to make a huge impression on 2010 and we've decided to jump on board with the Alfaro pro shoe and the Stash Vulc. They're nice and slim, bang on the money design wise and well worth checking out!
-Element are back! After a couple of seasons in the wilderness Element apparel has returned to the shop. No great surprises here but you can't go wrong with Element either for the style or the quality. Some awesome tees riffing on the tree logo in particular, go look!
-DVS and Lakai continue to be as popular as ever - if you haven't got your Manchester Selects or Enduros yet and want em, don't leave it too long!!
I've inevitably left something out here but you'll be able to read much, much more over the coming days, so worry not!!
SKATE COMP!
Worry not peeps, we've not forgotten the comps this year - the Northallerton Skate Competition, held in association with Sketchy Wheelers, CYC and Sk8 Safe is returning with a BANG a lot sooner than you might think! We've lined up some absolutely MASSIVE prizes for this one so don't miss the announcement coming as soon as we can swing it!
NEW TEAM MEMBER!
I'd just like to take a moment to officially welcome Dale Starkie as a Popcorn team rider! Dale brings a fresh style and hugely positive attitude to the team, and we've got our first snippits of footage from him ready to rock. Link shall be blogged imminently!
NEW POPCORN GEAR!
That's right! Not only are the infamous Popcorn Stickers (TM) FINALLY getting a 2010 makeover, but we've got new apparel and new deck designs coming really, really soon. Watch this space!
Loads more to talk about but that's my lot for tonight - laters folks!
We're back! Sorry for the temporary and unannounced break in your usual blogging service folks but we've been hard at work tweaking the website and to cut out all the boring techie speak, it meant we couldn't update for a while. We're done now, however, and as a result we'll have an exciting new feature tied in with the website launching in the next few weeks. Keep an eye peeled here for more info when it's done! In the meanwhile, we'll be back to daily (fingers crossed) blogging right abooout... now!
The Chukka Low is the shoe at the moment! this blog is a review/bio on the new classic skate shoe that will be a staple in skating or a while. The shoe is a cut down skate specific of the classic Chukka boot
Picture Chukka boot
The chukka low is designed with the Vans skate team involved, the design is a cross between the authentic and chukka boot. the shoe uses the 'Boardfeel OG' technology designed by Vans, the colourways this season were customized with the team riders each putting their own influence. There is also a shoe to remember the late Van Wastell who passed away not to long ago R.I.P
It comes about once a year, showcasing some of the best skating in the UK and the North the war of the roses .There was the Etines team present, with the local Leeds skaters pushing everyone else to catch up with them on their park.
The whole team managed to get involved in the day skating, about around the park,It was also an exciting time as we have just added a new member to the popcorn family. This guy is sick showing some of the older guys the new talent Dale Starkie.
It was a good day out in the end, i would like to thank the works for the event and the sponsors who were there.

Creature Skateboards is a monster packed brand full of Skull motifs, Crosses and of course thrash/death metal!
little bit of an intro and story about the brand, creature is part of the NHS distribution. The company is based around Thrash, punk and metal and Hesh skating (in the skating world; hesh is the style that says you don't give a fuck. Except, now that's it's been labled, no one is really hesh. You dig? The dudes with the tighter pants, smaller shirts, mesh back hats, and high top shoes...are generally hesh...but shit, if you say you're hesh, then you're not really hesh! You're not supposed to care, dumbass.
"that dude is hesh"
"those are some hesh tricks")
Back to the Blog anyway now, you can tell by the team that these guys mean business with the attitude, and the style. The company produces some sick graphics
picture of a deck
They recently Released two Dvd's one for parents viewing and another crammed full of Gnarly (a word that is overused by the cast of Laguna Beach. It means crazy, rad, totally fickin awesome.) footage.
The guy that runs it all is Pro Vert skater Darren Navarette this guy is a legend, He resurrected the company after it went out of business in the early Nineties, Nav has been in loads of skate vid's over the years with his amazing style on vert, he has also contributed to Ea 'SKATE 2' and is a Nike Sb rider as well.
This is a little video from there time at the Berrics Skatepark

Now, our sale already consisted of a lot of definite bargains but we've now gone right down to the bone and taken extra money off of all the clothing and jeans we'd originally put on offer, meaning:
ALL SALE JEANS are now £25 or less!! This isn't old rubbish folks, we're talking current or very recent Vans, Matix, Element, Etnies and Zoo York! They're the last ones and twos as far as sizes go but for the moment split across the different jeans we've got a good size range so come grab a bargain while we still have em - we're talking LESS than half price on some styles!
SALE T-SHIRTS are now all reduced even further, meaning a good range of T-shirts now just £10! That's at least half price on the vast majority and more in some cases! We've also slipped some new tees into the sale with at least 25% off!
ALL sale jackets, hoods and coats reduced further! This means we've got a stunning range between £25-£35 in particular that you should check out before they're all gone - some brilliant last bits of Zoo York clothing in particular has just gone into the sale!

The sale's not going to last forever as the new season is rapidly approaching - you'll notice Vans is already starting to drop - so don't delay, come down and grab a bargain! If you're not within shopping distance of us, the website link to the sale gear is here! Give it a second to load mind - there's a LOT of stuff on offer!
This shoe is a classic shoe that i have skated many times in the past with great board feel due again to the classic and simple Vans Waffle sole. This shoe is the old school favorite with a a massive history in skateboarding, being one of the most popular skate shoes with a history starting in 1975. The shoe was a combination of Tony Alva and Stacy Peralta who were legendary skaters from Dogtown America. The shoe we've got in the shop is a nice red and navy blue which is a classic colour way. The shoe is the same design as the Authentic however there is added padding in the tongue and in the area around bottom of the ankle to produce some form of support while skating.
The Chukka low is a new style of Vans shoes that came in yesterday, when i have skated this shoe the board control is a major factor the shoe, the grip of the shoe also is amazing due to the vulcanized waffle sole that is Vans trade mark. The weight of the shoe is nice with a lightweight feel to it.The fitting of the shoe is for comfortability with a nice padded section below your ankle. On the shoe that we have in the shop it is a mixture of suede and canvas, the canvas part been on the side which allows air to circulate around, the suede is on the toe end which allows for extra strength.
The shoe is a pooled effort of the Vans skate team to produce a all around skate shoe that would benefit the pool skater as much as the street skater. The design of the shoe is based on the classic Chukka boot but cut down to produce a skate version ,this shoe is an instant classic
Alright, no sooner had we finished getting the shiny new DVS Gavins on the shelf but lo and behold Mr Parcelforce dropped by with the first hit of our new spring Vans shoes! Just arrived are:
Era Skate Shoe - made legendary by Tony Alva and the Dogtown crew, the Era became skateboarding's first shoe back in 1976. An update of the Authentic featuring a padded collar, outside heel and the Vans classic waffle sole for comfort, strength and support. An awesome classic colourway, and watch out for the matching Half Cabs coming soon!!
Chukka Low Skate Shoe - Designed by the Vans™ skate team, the Chukka Low blends the classic skate style of the Authentic™ with the timeless style of the chukka boot.
Half Cab Pro Skate Shoe - this one's the black supertuff suede colourway and if you like your Half Cabs, check these out. Just an incredible shoe, and you can see the quality just looking at em. Toughened in every possible way from a standard Half Cab even the laces feel sturdier, these are well worth the extra money. Get em before they're gone!
We've also got some new Widows for the young uns so check those out here!
That's not all! Watch out over the next week or so as we're expecting the rest to arrive really soon - we've got coming some Half Cabs, some Desurgents and a bunch of accessories and apparel amongst other things!
Well, not entirely, but we have just had an early delivery from those lovely people at DVS of the new season Gavins! Lovely lightweight skate shoe this one with a great purple pinstripe effect along the inside. Come lookski before they're all gone!

This brand has been a staple product of the shop for a while now. Every season we try and get in some of the 'high quality' skate shoes in. The company has been around for the last 7 or 8 years, each year increasing the quality of their team and products to produce one of the top brands of the modern skate scene.
A bit of history, the company started off as a subsidiary to 'DC Skate Shoes' in 2003 by Jamie Thomas. When in 2005 'DC Shoes' was acquired by 'Quicksilver', about this time Fallen split from 'DC' and joined Jamie's distribution company 'Black Box' which already sold his own skate brand 'Zero Skateboards'.
The company has one of the best skate teams in the industry
Jamie Thomas,
Chris Cole,
Billy Marks,
Josh Harmony,
Tommy Sandoval,
Tony Cervantes,
James Hardy,
Brian Hanse,
In 2009 Chris Cole was voted 'thrasher skater of the year 2009' due to his style and skill on a skateboard. This guy is unreal hitting massive obstacles with the same technical skill as if he were skating a ledge. This guys section on 'Ride The Sky' is crazy and his section in the new Zero vid which he shares with Tom Asta to show how he likes to be different.
The guy behind the company is Jamie Thomas 'Aka The Chief' this guy has been around in the skate industry for years, one of the best street skaters. He also owns 'Black Box Dist' one of the top dist company around today with companies like 'Zero, Slave and fallen, Mystery' being part of their family. This guy has done some gnarly skating with the famous 'Leap of Faith' gap, he has also been on seven of the Tony Hawk games.
Now that we have gone through that we have the new Chris Cole 'Trooper SL' in black and blue in at the moment. Tis shoe is one of the best selling shoes for the shop due to the strength that it gives especially in the sides when comparing it to other shoes. The sole of the shoe is nice with a flat bedding, the comfort level of this shoe is unreal as with most of the fallen shoes. The shoe is also a good balance between cushion and lightweight still providing the impact support needed to tear up stairs like the man him self.
Nise Skateboards is a Nottingham based skate company, trust me Ben Durnan-Fletcher, Nise owner, has pointed this out! These guys hooked up our own Richie Mann up with some free stuff and place on their team along with a nice little section on their new scene dvd 'Down Our Way'. When we first heard about this company Richie won a comp in Nottingham, once he came back up North he told us about this company and the team. We then got on the phone and sorted out a trip up north for them visiting some of the parks in the area. The trip involved Northallerton skate park, Prissick and Stockton on the Saturday and then a mellow skate at Scarborough on the Sunday. After the weekend of madness, we then decided to stock the company in the shop after a talk with Ben.
When we first got their product we could tell that a skater was behind this company, the quality of the decks are nice (could do with some wider boards, hint hint!) but have a nice tail to them. They also do some wheels which are hard but feel smooth as hell to ride. The clothing part of the operation is going well with some nice threads been produced the plain designs and quality of the fabric is nice with a warm feel to them at this time of year!.
Some of the footage that went down
Their products are !Now Online!, with clothing coming next few days!
Quick note as I know a whole bunch of you have been eagerly awaiting this one! Anti-Hero and Girl's Beauty and the Beast 2 DVD has JUST arrived in stock - come and get em before they're all gone!
Wondering what all the fuss is about? Check it out here!
Also back in stock are Hesh Law in both All Ages and Deluxe flavours - remember, the Deluxe version is recommended for more mature audiences only!

L-R-G produces clothing and accessories, and also has been known to develop a broad range of products including electronic accessories, extreme vehicles, outdoor equipment including sporting goods and more . The company is also involved in the promotion of underground recording artists and sponsors a skateboarding team
The independent clothing company has branded the underground hip-hop generation, being worn by hip-hop celebrities Kanye West and Lupe Fiasco. The LRG brand has consistently reinvented itself and influenced the direction of the Hip Hop clothing world. The company also supports independent, underground, and lesser-known recording artists in the skateboarding and hip-hop cultures through the release of compilation CDs. Artists featured include Sound Tribe Sector 9, Grouch, Living Legends, Bun B, T.I., Kanye West, Raekwon, Pete Rock, Planet Asia, Strong Arm Steady, Wale, DL Incognito, Petey Puff, Gucci Mane, B.o.B., Outasight, Kidz in the Hall, and Blu among others. It first began as a line for men, but now caters to women and also children.
This company has been a success story for the shop, we started off with a few items but it has soon developed into one of are key brands that we stock in the shop. The company itself has a good idea of what is in fashion, the brand does cover a wide area of the audience that comes in daily from baggy baggy everyday wear, to hard to find boutique t-shirts and shirts. In the next couple of weeks we will be receiving our spring/summer ranges, these range will see LRG full range of Grassroots style clothing coming in and some stylish New Era's.
Hello Everyone, just before Christmas we received a box full of Black Box stuff and some copies of the new Zero Dvd, so now that the Christmas rush is over, I can finally write a review for the blog part of our website. Zero has been in skateboarding for a long time producing some of the finest skateboarding films of the past 20 years, as well as producing some of the nicest clothes and decks.
The opening section is Garrett Hill. This guy is crazy on rails and is a good choice for the opening section to kick start the Dvd, we see a good selection of tricks and Hesh style mixed together to produce a crazy section that could have been any point during the Dvd and not be out of place. The next guy that comes on is Keegan Saunders this guy is has a smooth consistent section with a nice combination of tricks both technical and a big.
Next we see the first of the montages in strange worlds, the first been a mixture of Rattray, Sheldon and two other of the new riders. These montages are packed full of Various different styles of skating, with a good mixture of elements to make the montages interesting and not dull and predictable like some of the montage that i have seen. This is then broken up by Marissa Del Santos who shows that girls can be as aggressive and fast, this section is sick with the use of grabs and unique tricks to make a section which is nice to watch and follow.
After the little break from the montages, we then move onto are next montage which has Jamie Thomas, steamer, Piscopo and Sandoval. this montage is full of amazing skating with a classic Jamie section and Sandoval, to Steamer who shows a good mixture of style and tricks. Next section is a killer section with James Brockman busting some gnarly tricks over and down gaps. The next skater we see is one of zeros new ams proving his worth Dane Burman who everyone will know about in the new year, with the massive bag of tricks and confidence.
This section is far the best due to the originality of the section, and the use of a hip hop tune when you least expect it. Chris Cole and Tom Asta are good mixture together with banter at the start setting the tone for the rest of the section. There is a perfect balance between technical ability and having the ability to hammer massive gaps and stairs and the rails. The last section has been given to James Toncowny who absolutely kills it.
This Dvd is full of amazing tunes which are nice and heavy and fit the skating rather well, the opening sequence is interesting with the mixture of art and colours. I would grab a copy of this Dvd as it is one that you will be rewatching over and over.
I may have already mentioned that we were gonna have a bit of a DVD clearout and lo it's now online and ready to rock! We've got some awesome gear in the sale from just a FIVER, with the majority being under a tenner! Check them out here!

Hesh Law is the all ages version, and if you're after the explicit version it's been delayed sadly and will be out v soon! Also coming soon, Extremely Sorry restocks and the new Beauty and the Beast Anti-Hero Vs Girl!
Me again with a quick update on happenings here at Popcorn. We've had a manic couple of weeks so apologies for the lack of updates, but here's a sampling of what's new...
New L-R-G clothing in stock!
We've been so pleased with our recent L-R-G stock that we've only gone and added to it! We've got three different variations on the Grass Roots Crewneck Sweatshirt now - Gibson Blue is killing it, and we've also got Brown and White now. We've also got all three colours of the Big L Railroad shirt and no less than four Grass Roots New Era caps. Pop over to the L-R-G section to check it out, and also check out the jeans while you're there - the Classic 47s are superb in particular, a brilliant baggy jean, and we also have the True Straight fit if that's more your bag!
Zero Completes - Finally!
I know I was here several weeks ago saying the same thing, but we've deffo got our stock of Zero completes coming in this week ready for Christmas. Honest. Again, they're a superb sub-100 notes complete, and arriving alongside them will be new Fallen stock, including the ace fingerless gloves and some Trooper SLs at a great price!
New Speed Demon Completes
Speaking of completes at a great price, we've just got in this past week a range of Speed Demon completes in time for Christmas. These tend to be smaller sizes, usually 7.4-7.6 and are fantastic for younger and less experienced skaters or those on a budget for a Christmas gift. They're absolutely flying in store so if you're after one head over to the skating > skateboards section now!
Scooters!
On a slightly less hardcore skate tip we've also just had a new delivery of JD Bug Scooters. They're going as quickly we can restock them so don't hang around too long if you're after one for Christmas - for those of you who were waiting for one, your orders are now on their way!
Retro Bags, Wallets and Tees!
If, like yours truly, you're a child of the 80s you'll no doubt appreciate the new bits we've just got in stock over in the Gifts section. Check out the Bags and Wallets categories for now for some fantastic Christmas ideas, and we'll have the matching tees up within a day or two.
Skull Candy - restocks coming soon!
Yup, the Skull Candy range is looking a little thin on the ground we know - but worry not as we have a big new delivery arriving this week. We've got new stock from throughout the range and it's all the harder to find stuff - not the naff gear you're going to see in chain stores!
That's all for now - I'll be back tomorrow with more!
Just wanted to drop a quick word to the wise on Christmas delivery times. Just to clarify for everyone our standard delivery service goes by Royal Mail 1st Class Recorded, while our Express service uses Parcelforce 24. If you're buying for Christmas the closer we get to the big day the harder it becomes to say with any degree of certainty that your goods will arrive on time using Standard delivery. You're absolutely fine for the time being but by the time we get within a week of Christmas we strongly recommend using our Express Service to ensure your goods arrive on time.
If you do stick with standard postage close to Christmas please do bear in mind that the service is difficult to track until they've tried to deliver your package, and while we turn things around on our side as quickly as we possibly can, we can't be held responsible for any delay to the goods in transit at this time of year on that kind of service. We'd certainly hate to see your pressies not arriving on time!!
Just wanted to drop in with that note - back soon with an update on what's been happening recently!
Hello again, last weekend Me, Richie Mann and Stevie D and Moley went on a mission in the car to Nottingham to go see the Nise Primere. We set off on Saturday with a horrible drive down to Nottingham, with our hangovers still with us from the night before. When we arrived after a couple of rest stops, we where greeted by the Nise Guy himself Ben. Once we had said are hello's to rest of the Nise crew, we were quickly took to one of the craziest ramp set up's ever, you wouldn't believe that there was a ramp in the building, however after two flights of stairs we came to a room full of people skating. There was a massive range of abilities but this didn't matter as everyone was up for the sesh.Once we put are stuff down we got straight to skating, the Nise ramp is how to say it unique takes a bit for everyone to get warmed up on, once everyone is warmed up we see some sick skating coming from Richie,Stevie and me, then moved on to the flatbank which was also unique, seeing some gnarly tricks been pulled off by everyone.
After a long skate it was time to sit down in the art studio and watch the video, we saw a massive over view of skating in the Nottingham area, the video it's self was well constructed. We saw parts from Stevie in friends section, as well as Richie having a full part, the rest of the Nise team were on form, with amazing sections from will and Craig Smedley, Jim knight. After a couple of more beers it was back on the boards, this sesh was crazy with Richie throwing down double backside flips, and are own little challenge of 360 flip on the flatbank, which was throw out of the window when a drunk Will Golding landing it first go
The beer took its toll on all of us and it was time to stop skating before we got seriously hurt, one lairy walk which saw Moley bang on about how good his chips were, and funny tram ride to Ben's.You Can probably guess what we did when we got back.
The next morning we got up late missing the comp at Skegness that was the reason for the journey down, however we ended up visiting some of the local parks. The first park we visited was built by maverick, the layout was nice with a good mixture of hip's and quarter's, and mellow banks. what i personally liked about this park was the quarter at the bottom of the park. The big disappointment was the bowl which apparently been used as a fire pit by the local's on bonfire night and not been cleaned up and now was waterlogged with black water and wood. This sesh didn't last long and we moved on to our last park which wast slightly damp and was more of a chill out sesh,
We said are goodbyes and drove back up north
we would like to thank nise crew and ben for the night, for letting us stay at his, and we can't wait to come back down and show you how its done
Quick update for you all with what's new and what's a-coming here at Popcorn:
GIRLS CLOTHES!
Yes, it's finally arrived! After many delays we've now got a brand new range of girls gear in time for the festive season, including new brands Iron Fist, New Breed Girl and Goodie Two Sleeves. They're a really nice and diverse range and we're not done yet, as Funk Rock arrives this week and we're also looking at a brand new range of jeans so keep an eye out for em! Iron Fist is now online and barring a couple of lines so are New Breed Girl and Goodie Two Sleeves so feel free to check em out on the web!
ZERO COMPLETES!
We've got a series of excellently priced ZERO completes arriving this week so watch out for those - if you like your Blood Skull logo decks this is one for you, and I can reveal they'll be at a sub-£100 price point! BARGAIN!
Rise with the Fallen...
Marching in alongside the Zero completes this week are a new colour way in the Trooper SL from Fallen! These are awesome and just the thing if you're looking for a hard wearing, chunky skate shoe. Hey, They're Fallen, so they're hardly gonna be bad! Watch out for those hitting the web this week. We've also got restocks arriving of the mega popular Fallen Backpack range and with a little luck a new range of fingerless gloves!
VANS BOYS - HOLIDAY STOCK DUE!
Also due this week are new stocks on Vans holiday season boys clothing! We're really depleted on hoods especially for boys at the moment but we have new Vans styles due this coming week, complemented by brand new t-shirts, another colourway of the awesome boys plaid shirts, and, yes finally, boys sizes Vans jeans!
Nise hardware online soon!
For those who are unfamiliar, Nise are a new company based out of Nottingham that have started to make waves up North. Some of the Popcorn boys have been paying them a visit this weekend for the premiere of their brand new and first ever DVD, and as of this coming week we'll have brand new Nise stock both online and in store. Be sure to come check em out and support a brand new British company!
That's all for now, more updates coming soon! If toys are your bag we've also just snagged a new range of Transformers and stuff, but yknow, popcornlive.co.uk version 2.0 is coming soon and y'all can check that out over there :-)
This team seems to be growing stronger with are Richie Mann joining their ranks performing a massive 360 flip down the double. We see there top skater Will Golding throw down some mad rail skating
Flip have managed to do it again. This latest release is the best so far covering a large demographic of skateboarding.
With one of the best teams around, this video is an instant classic. The first section a dedication to Shane Cross RIP, shows off what we remember Shane for; his large technical skill on rails.
Next section is Rowley. This section is the stand out with the best tunes, provided by Slayer. We see a nice mixture of big street skating and small ditched skating, we see rowley gentle slow down and mature as a skater. With the inclusion of Jimmy this section has some nice big skating.
Next section Louie Lopez, another small child that makes you want to skip this section!! This section is going along the same lines as a Nyjah Houston section, however this guy has a nice opening trick and switches it up.
Rodrigo Tx
This guy is massively into his tech skating! Some of the ledges he is attacking are massive, but that's no problem for a guy with massive pop. People of the 90's would of loved this section if they changed the song!
Ali Boulala, this guy is a personal favourite so know doubt I'll be biased on this review. It opens up on some old footage of him skating and taking the bails. The tune is a classic, however with the opening sequence there's a lot of non-skating and this continues throught this section. With a good mixture of style and massive leaps this guy still has it. Unlucky that this is the last time we will see this gypsy skate punk skate for time.
Bob Burnquist !!
This section is one to show to people who don't know the sport, the amount of attention this section receives in the shop is unreal comments like "what the f***", "as if that guy did a backflip". This guy shows his audience some crazy switch and normal variations of tech tricks but on vert and the massive mega ramp. When he starts skating that rail in the middle it blows my mind!
He even goes and jumps off a rail into the Grand canyon, showing how is progressing the sport further even than he has already!
Laun Oliveria
Another young person on the team, however this guy has a style a little bit older then his actual age and this section could have been on a Girl vid. This guy has a big future!
Nice Cut section with a massive bag of mini-ramp tricks in the desert, with David G and Mark A doing some nice skating. Mark pulls off the nicest 360 flip fakie, move into a Non-skating globe esque montage.
Bob makes this part the craziest thing I've seen done on a board, shows the invention of the company and the riders and again has set the bechmark, it shows how much of a mad man he is to base jump in the first place.
Curren Caples
It's another small gnarly skater we can hate, however personally I love this kid's style. His section is full of tricks I would love to be able to do on mini, street, anything really.
Ben Nordberg
This guy's technical and style skill are high, mixing in both with equal parts to produce a clean solid section, showcase how British skating has progressed. This guy is a name to watch for as he progresses further
Willow
This guy should of been given a full section, some of the stairs he is hitting are massive, doing flips down stairs like that is incredible and fully needs hooking up.
Rune Glifberg
This guy is another crazy skater who can skate anything, showing us how well he can flow around many different pools with the added factor that he's not wearing pads and doing 540's with ease. The tune fits in well with another Prodigy tune. As with the rest of this section it is another classic section from Rune
Tom Penny
This guy is a legend with a nice opening sequence, this section is full of what you would expect from Tom, with a barge of baggy style and tech it's a change to rest of the video, but it still manages to fit in well with the rest of the team with his crazy persona.
Lance Mountain
It's nice to see this guy still skating, and still getting support from both Nike and Flip. He still throws in some humour as well for good measure
Mark Appleyard
Another older Flip skater still pushing it with his incredible style on mini and street. This section has a smooth, consistent feel, a diffident Mark Appleyard section that should be shown to anyone who puts to much into there runs.
David Gonzales
This kid is unreal, he is Gnarlyyyyyy. With the massive rails and massive leaps you would forget that this guy is technically skilled as well. This guy has progressed and evolved into a big mix of Haslam styled mini, and Geoff's big drops. One of the only sections with tunes that fit into the section.
In summary this video is amazing, there is a good mixture of skating with its good points (Geoff jumping that massive gap) to bad points (amount of small kids). This video is a instant classic, the use of non-skating montages is nice as it develops the sections and characters to a genre of videos that can become boring at times.
I loved the effects that they used to produce a different feel to the video, especially the section with Shane. The intro's and outro's are funny and a good rest bite from the gnarly skating, this makes this video open to even non-skaters. following on from the non-skating point of view this video is a good video to sit your family down and watch it, with the high end of daredevil Bob to the silly mucking around of Ali Boulala people will love it
Just a quick word to the wise; I'm aware that a few folk still use Internet Explorer 5.5 or 6 and were having some issues with the product pages and the order process getting cut off and generally looking a bit funky. Tis now resolved, and if anyone notices anything else amiss you'll be doing us a huge favour by letting us know. Cheers for the heads up peoples!!
Just a word to the wise - I did warn ya, and Flip's Extremely Sorry has flown as expected. However! I've just got some restocks sorted and fingers crossed it should be back in tomorrow alongside some pretty awesome gift ideas from the likes of Anti-Hero, Krooked and Independant. We're talking alarm clocks, pint jars, even SLIPPERS! Awesome.
Halloween tricks and treats were in line for blood thirsty skaters as they arrived in their hundreds to shred up the mini ramp competition and walk away with great prizes yesterday at Ryedale Skatepark in North Yorkshire. All kinds of action packed fun was happening! No one had a chance to rest their eyes, with demos, freebies, competitions & spot prizes up for grabs.
Everyone wanted to get involved with prizes kindly donated and supported from VANS UK, Popcorn Skateshop, Pro Tec Helmets, 4Youth Group & Death Skateboards the day was a huge success. Skaters turned up in their hundreds from all across Yorkshire raising awareness that more skateparks should be built and the ones that we have need to be maintained. Some of the skaters to attend were Exit shop team rider George Redhead, Popcorn Skateshops Shop Team & Nise Skateboards - 'Northern Ripper' Richie Mann.
Ryan Swain 'Skateboarder & Event Organiser' said: "I was so proud of the event! The skateboarding talent and quality we all got to see yesterday was great, some of Yorkshire's top skaters sponsored and unsponsored amazed us all. It was also nice to see families and other people you don't normally see at the skatepark come together for a day of family fun and local support"
Photos & Videos will be going up on Mpora & Youtube within the next few weeks and will also be featured on the Sidewalk skateboarding magazines website:
www.sidewalkmag.com
www.mpora.com
Keep posted guys and thanks to James Kay Photography & Max Hodeson Photography also Mike Hodgeson for the Videography and everyone else for attending you made it happen!
Just so we've got it stated explicitly somewhere on the site... yes, our standard postage service does go out via Royal Mail so yes, it could be affected by the current postage strikes.
We haven't had too many complaints on the topic yet fortunately, but as we approach the festive season until strike action is cleared up or the Royal Mail implodes (y'know, whichever comes first!) we strongly recommend that if you're in a rush for anything you've ordered, you select the Express Shipping option, which is courier-based and is thus unaffected. Ta!!
Quick update as we've just added a new feature to the site! If you check out any product on the site now you'll see the facebook logo and the word "share" just above the images. If you click it'll give you the option to share that product with all your friends on facebook! Spotted something you like? Why not tell the world?
We'll be back soon hopefully with news from today's comp in Malton which I'm hearing went fantastically well!
SKATE HARDWARE - we've had HUGE deliveries this week from several suppliers and have BRAND NEW Flip, Real, Cliche, Almost, Enjoi and Blind. We've got Enjoi Teenish Bearings back in stock also - always popular with the two extra bearings per pack! - and some sweet new Thunder Trucks!
HEADPHONES - The brand new Paul Frank Skullcandys have arrived, check them out in store and they'll be online to buy very soon!
SHOES - JUST arrived this week are new clearence-priced Lakai Manchester Select Recycled Shoes. Manchester Selects are one of our most popular lines so these are a no brainer, especially at £35. Remember they're all in different colours like - the piccie on the website is an example shoe!
POPCORN GEAR! - Seeing the Light decks are back in stock and shifting nicely, and we've also got the brand new team Tees and Hoods for adults and children in stock. These genuinely are nice quality garments that we're very pleased with, so check em out!
GIRLS CLOTHING UPDATE - if you've popped by the shop recently and shown any interest in girls lines, you've probably been told about our brilliant new stock that's been arriving any minute now for the last seeming eternity! Worry not - we've got it on good authority that it's coming, and it's coming next week!
BODY JEWELLERY - speaking of restocks that have been forever-coming, the body jewellery is back in stock! We've got loads of tunnels, two part and otherwise, ear expanders up to 20mm, Madonna Studs, Tongue Bars, Naval Bars, all sorts. This is a huge delivery in terms of product variations and we're awaiting imagery, but it WILL be available online to buy sometime next week, and if you're interested in the meanwhile, let me know!
We're going to try and keep you up to date as quickly as possible right here on new stock and special offers, and might even throw in a few special tidbits for anyone who's really paying attention, so keep an eye out!
For those of you who haven't heard, the event will be hosted by our very own Ryan Swain and Sarah Agar at Malton Skate Park, Norton Road, Malton, North Yorks. It kicks off tomorrow morning at 11am and runs through until 3pm. The event is for a great and very relevant cause, because all proceeds go towards the upkeep of the skate park itself - something we're 100% behind, and we've backed that up by chipping in with the prize support for the compo. With many of our top suppliers also behind it - thanks go to Vans, Pro-tec, Death, Landscape, Globe and Element along with many others - it's definitely worth coming along and checking it out!
There's all kinds of craziness going on including the compo itself, learn to skate tuition, raffles and prizes, and even live music! Ryan's also got a whole bunch of Popcorn's techy kit with him, so with a bit of luck expect picture and video footage once the event's gone down!
Okay, so this morning didn't work out - busy busy day, lots of deliveries, so I figured I'd take a moment to introduce myself and some of my colleagues this evening! I'm Mike, I manage our shop and the website and do all of the in-house web development, so if you've discovered a problem with the site - I'm your man!
Sarah Agar is Popcorn's founder and is working hard on our sister company Sk8 Safe's skate school projects recently! She's often out and about with the team teaching skateboarding in schools and to private and group classes. If that sounds interesting to you, pop on over to www.sk8safe.com for more information!
Ryan Swain you've already met below. Ryan's an important part of our skate team, works part time for both Sk8 Safe and Popcorn Skate. Ryan's got his very own login here so he'll be popping in and updating regularly with news on the shop skate team, events, pics and no doubt videos to keep you all entertained!
Stephen Blythe is allergic to his first name, so just call him Blythe (we also find that OI! tends to work well!). Blythe also works part time for both Sk8 Safe and Popcorn Skate, and he loves his big chunky 8 inch and over decks. He's often seen skating Half Cabs, Fallen, Real and generally anything Deluxe, and once I've managed to track him down he'll also be chipping in along with Ryan with skate team related content and other hijinks!
Sean David is Popcorn and Sk8 Safe's resident creative genius. He's responsible for all our graphics, design and layout and is currently recovering from creating about a billion new banners for this shiny new website! I'm trying to convince him to log in and blog for us too, but bear with us - he's a bit shy!
...those are some key members of the team, and we'll introduce you to more folk as we go along. Back shortly with event updates!
Welcome one and all! After many many hours of redevelopment, version 3 of Popcorn Skate is here! So yeah, check it out, have a look around, see what you think! We've got a whole bunch of new features and we think it's a LOT easier to browse. If you notice anything not working then let us know, and I'll be back in the morning to introduce the blog properly!
