MAINTANANCE:
Skateboards do require maintainance. Nuts and bolts can come loose and parts can wear out. You need to take care of your skateboard and ensure it is in good working order. Spend a few minutes before each session performing these simple checks:

1 Examine your deck for signs of cracks damage. Minor visible cracks and pressure damage are not uncommon, however if there is evidence of a crack going through multiple plys of the wood, or plys separating it's time to get a new deck. Due to the nature of the sport decks do get damaged, and you can expect to replace them occasionally.

2 Due to the constant contact with the soles of your shoes Griptape can easily get covered in mud or dirt. You can clean excessive build-ups off by wiping the grip clean with a little water and a soft brush. If your Griptape appears excessively worn or dirty it's time to replace it, but bear in mind Griptape is not easy to remove. Contact us for advise on how best to re-grip your board.

3 Nuts and Bolts holding your trucks and wheels to the deck can come loose due to all the vibrations and bangs a skateboard endures. Spend a moment tightening these nuts and bolts prior to using your board. (We stock a full range of pocket sized tools ideal for these jobs).

4 Trucks: If your trucks show any signs of being warped or out of alignment don't panic. Most Truck manufacturers can sell replacement parts, along with instructions of how to fit them. If you need contact details for the manufacturer of your trucks, contact us.

5 Wheel Lock Nuts: always check that your wheel lock nuts (which hold the wheels to your trucks) are tight before going out for a session. Axle nuts do wear out due to their frequent tightening and stress. Always replace these if you're in any doubt about their condition.

6 Wheels should be smooth and free of any major irregularities or damage. Large chunks of missing urethane, flat spots, or just long time wear should be replaced. If any of your bearings seem to pop out too easily, the wheel-bearing seat may be damaged, and justifies replacement.

7 Bearings: You'll know if your bearings are in need of replacing. If they no longer spin freely, or make noises they'll be in need of replacing.

Remember to take care of your skateboard, then it will take care of you.
