First up to launch the project for the Summer 2010 season is everyone’s favorite German skateboarder Willow from Berlin and Manchester’s (UK) very own skate powerhouse Joe Gavin. The Willow Faction is based on his hometown, Berlin. The city adopted the Bear for its coat of arms, as seen on both the tongue and heel of the shoe. The split colour bear is a nod to the historical split of the city by the famous Berlin wall. When Willow was born in 1983, Berlin was still a divided city. Skateboarding existed in communist Germany but without the iron curtain being torn down in 1989, Willow would most likely not have turned out to be one of the most sought after skateboarder in Europe and now taking over the world too as the new AM on the etnies Global team!
